SCRAP METAL
Any type of metal can be recycled: Scrap metals are collected from
disposed vehicles. The benefit of scrap metal recycling is that it can be
reused over and over again; it has an indefinate lifeand does not lose its
strength or its material compound.
Melting: Once the aluminum or steel is "molten" state, they are molded
into small bars called ingots. After cooling, the bars are sent to manufactures.
Uses: Household furnishings, pop cans, cabinets and more. In recent years, steel
from old automobiles has even been used in conjunction with new steel to manufacture
new automobiles.
Scrap metal prices go up and down. It usually goes by weight. Some cars weigh
more then other cars. That's the real price of scrap metal. If the price of
scrap metals stays up, consistantly, then the yards may increase the value
of scrap cars.
Towing cars for scrap metals to recycle into new products is costly.
Tow trucks need to pay for gas, insurance and up-keep of their trucks for
towing abandoned cars or any vehicles from your residence or apartment building.
Scrap metal is now made into products that are found in your "new" car. Metal
in your old batteries are partly recycled into new batteries found in
your new car.
